Since taking on the role of President, eBay Marketplace Operations in January of this year, I’ve had an opportunity to meet and talk with thousands of community members in places like New Orleans, Washington DC, San Jose and elsewhere. I am looking forward to meeting many more of you in Chicago at eBay Live! June 19-21, 2008. To date, 2008 has been an exciting year full of significant changes for eBay and accordingly for many of you, our customers. In the keynote address at eBay Live! this year, myself and John Donahoe, our CEO, will be speaking very directly about the future of eBay. Besides the speeches, eBay Live! always offers the opportunity to meet with thousands of your peers, talk with solutions providers, mingle with eBay staff and learn from our hands-on tutorials and seminars. And while 2008 is not the last eBay Live!, it is the last one for a while.

Syracuse, New York - Ever wonder how much you could get for your old record player or that toy the kids just had to have and never used?  With the slumping economy, making some extra cash by getting rid of your junk is a pretty good idea. If you are en eBay rookie, there are some things you can do right away that can get more people interested in bidding on your item. Holly Sammons, who teaches classes at local libraries on how to use eBay, offers the following advice: Include several pictures, and use plenty of words in the header. The more words you use, the more times your item pops up on searches.

Craigslist's CEO Jim Buckmaster believes that eBay's lawsuit is an exercise in hypocrisy, in no small part because the online auction giant has taken many of the same measures Craigslist did in order to protect itself. Buckmaster made yet another post to the Craigslist Blog over the lawsuit, addressing some of the points that eBay raised in its recently-unsealed complaint. While Buckmaster's points may be true, though, his post seems to dance around the overall point of the lawsuit—that Craigslist has diluted eBay's stake in the popular classified site through its actions.
