As promised at the end of last week's column about sites that I find useful, here is another one to use with eBay.com. Now, before some of you get mad at me, I will say that I don't use this all the time. However, I do use it when I have bid on an item several times and then get tired of being beaten on an item - two, three or more times in a row. I say that some of you may get mad because, to me, this is sort of a sneaky way to win bids on eBay. The site is called Auction Sniper (auctionsniper.com) and they advertise it with this slogan, "Are you tired of losing eBay auctions?" That sure got my attention the first time. Auction Sniper is an eBay automation tool that "snipes" by automatically processing your eBay bids. By Ron Doyle
The internet is the ultimate platform for any person to find anything they’re looking for. And when it comes to consumer goods, the internet’s favourite is eBay. But can you make a living selling things in eBay? Well, kind of. The biggest advantage of eBay is the biggest disadvantage for you: everyone sells on a level playing field, no matter where they live or what they do.Unlike anywhere else in business, reputation and quality of service mean nothing as long as you’ve got a feedback score in double figures. On eBay it’s down to the lowest common denominator: price. On bytestart.co.uk
If you're looking for a way to make a little money off of the stuff in your attic, or set up an online shop and sell wares easily, you don't have to use eBay to get the job done. There are dozens of alternatives, and since the eBay boycott started, we've discussed several of them. However, there are always more out there that deserve attention. Wigix, for example, is an eBay alternative designed to bring in the disgruntled eBay seller's community with no listing fees, no fees at all for cheap items, no charges for items that don't sell, and seller tools as robust as any other online auction site. Countersuit alleges online auctioneer broke laws with its classified ads SAN JOSE, California - Online classifieds giant Craigslist countersued its minority owner, eBay Inc., on Tuesday, alleging the online auctioneer is violating federal and state antitrust laws. The legal spat, which began last month, pits two of the Internet’s most popular Web sites against one another. It lays bare eBay’s long-standing desire for a majority stake in Craigslist and Craigslist’s continued resistance to eBay’s advances. Craigslist claims eBay attempted to quash competition by using privileges and information gleaned from its 28 percent stake in Craigslist to benefit its own classifieds site Kijiji, which launched last year in the U.S.According to Craigslist’s complaint, filed in state Superior Court in San Francisco, eBay internally calls Kijiji the “Craigslist killer.” On .msnbc.msn.com
Hello...This is Jeff King, Senior Director of Finding. After a few weeks offline, the Playground is back! Although it's still a work in progress, you can try the latest Finding features on the eBay Playground. We hope you'll kick the tires on the new experience and let us know what you think! As a reminder, the Playground previews of some of the technology that will be released this year as part of eBay's Finding 2.0 efforts. Buyers and sellers who have used the Playground in the past will be pleased to know we've made many changes inspired by your suggestions since last fall. For instance, you'll discover the new Finding navigation is much improved. The navigation is driven more heavily by seller-specified item specifics and is more consistent with the classic category structure that you are familiar with and prefer (we heard you loud and clear on this). eBay Announcement
When we ran the free gallery picture promotion in March, we got excellent positive feedback from sellers, so we’ve decided to repeat the offer. From 19 May until 30 September, the gallery picture listing upgrade on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie will be free.Whether you’re just starting out or are already a big seller with thousands of items for sale, having a gallery picture next to your listing in search results means buyers are more likely to bid for and buy your items. This is just one of the ways we’re reducing the cost of listing an item on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie. We’ll update you on other plans we have later this year. eBay Announcement
