Auctioning4u co-founder and CEO Christian Braun told AuctionBytes over the weekend that the business was closing and included a letter that outlined the reasons (see below). Auctioning4u is one of many eBay drop-off store chains and franchisors that have closed, finding it more than a little challenging to operate eBay consignment businesses. Braun said on Sunday that Auctioning4u has gone into administration, "similar to your Chapter 11 or 13 with an administrator in charge." He said the administrators will decide what to do. What they do: Brian and Gail Eischeid sell items on eBay for members of the community out of their store in Savannah Centre. Gail, Brian and their one full-time employee, Dan, do all the work: photograph the item(s), write descriptions, communicate with buyers/inquirers and package and ship sold items. The original owner receives a check for a percentage of what it sells for on eBay."On higher-priced items, the customer will get about 70 percent. Typically on the lower items, the customer will get closer to 60 percent. We get a 33 percent commission, and eBay of course gets their own cut of it," Brian said. How they got the job: The couple moved to Savannah from Atlanta about six years ago. There, Gail was a stay-at-home mom after working in sales and marketing most of her adult life, and Brian was traveling a lot with Tetrapak, a food packaging company based out of Sweden. For those who don’t have much extra time but have the goods -- perhaps a musical instrument collecting dust in the garage or an antique vase stuffed into a cupboard -- the iSold It store in Hesperia could help them sell their items on eBay without barely lifting a finger. In fact, says franchisee Chris Boggs, who runs the new store in the new Plaza on Main shopping center near Main Street and 11th Avenue with his wife, Megan, and parents, Steve and Joy Boggs, some customers are thrilled to find many items are worth much more than expected. As every eBay seller knows, the sales process is generally a smooth and easy one - that is, until the item needs to be placed in the loving arms of its new owner. Then, the adventure begins. First, you need to receive payment. Then, you pack. Next, you make the trip to the post office or other shipping location. This is followed by some anxious days when the merchandise is in transit. During this period, you may well receive emails asking when the shipment occurred and when delivery can be expected. For some Nervous Nellies, the time of arrival never seems to be fast enough.
